Renowned gospel music veteran and former President of the Gospel Musicians Association of Nigeria (GOMAN), Evangelist Dr. Bola Are, has shared a harrowing account of how she narrowly escaped five different rape attempts within a church premises in Akure, Ondo State.

The legendary singer made the startling disclosure during a special prayer summit organized for gospel music ministers at the Redemption City, located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Recounting her ordeal, the “Baba Ku Ise” crooner revealed that the incidents took place during the foundational years of her ministry. She noted that while the church is traditionally regarded as a sanctuary of safety, it is often infiltrated by “ungodly people” with predatory intentions.

According to her, it took the combination of divine intervention, constant vigilance, and heavenly wisdom to navigate those dangerous encounters unscathed.

“The church environment should be a place of safety, but ungodly people can infiltrate any setting,” she cautioned the congregation of singers and worship leaders.

Using her personal experience as a springboard for an apostolic charge, Dr. Are admonished upcoming gospel ministers to prioritize holiness and spiritual discipline. She stressed that the calling of a music minister requires a lifestyle of righteousness, noting that their conduct, including their mode of dressing, must reflect their identity as ambassadors of Christ.

The veteran evangelist further warned that a “careless lifestyle” often serves as an open door for temptations and spiritual attacks, urging ministers to be both prayerful and watchful in their dealings within and outside the church.

The summit, which drew choir leaders and gospel artistes from across the country, served as a platform for spiritual fortification and discussions aimed at sanitizing the moral standards within the Nigerian gospel music industry.
