Explosive details have emerged regarding the internal collapse of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2023 Oyo State gubernatorial election, revealing a coordinated campaign of sabotage orchestrated from within the party’s own ranks. Speaking on the popular radio program, State Affairs with Edmund Obilo, monitored by Gistlife, former Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, revealed a shocking account alleging that high-ranking members, including a sitting member of the House of Representatives, received explicit instructions to work against the party’s candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin.

The betrayal reportedly reached its peak in the early hours of election day. According to a direct confession from an informant provided to Barrister Shittu, a logistics operation was executed at 3 AM in Shaki, where money was distributed to specific party members to ensure they abandoned the party’s candidate in favor of Governor Seyi Makinde. Shittu noted that these instructions were kept strictly confidential from principled members of the party to prevent any internal resistance or “fight back” before the deed was done.

While the former Minister stopped short of confirming if the orders originated from then-candidate Bola Tinubu, he insisted that the “forces” responsible were definitely within the party structure. This internal friction created a mathematical anomaly that has left many puzzled: the APC managed an overwhelming sweep of all three senatorial seats and nine out of 14 House of Representatives seats, yet their gubernatorial candidate suffered a crushing defeat.

The report further suggests that Governor Seyi Makinde strategically capitalized on this internal APC crisis. By avoiding a direct campaign against Tinubu and instead using coded language regarding “equity,” Makinde allegedly secured the support of disgruntled APC elements who chose to “cut corners” and sabotage their own platform. As the dust settles, Barrister Shittu warned that only time will reveal the full extent of the consequences for the party’s future in the state
