A heartbreaking video has emerged online showing one of the schoolteachers abducted during last Friday’s terrorist invasion of schools in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State pleading for immediate rescue from captivity. The victim, who identified herself as Temitope Mary, a native of Ibadan working at the First Baptist Church Nursery and Primary School in Yawota, Ogbomoso axis, confirmed that several teachers and young schoolchildren are currently being held hostage in an undisclosed forest by heavily armed bandits. With a baby strapped to her back and her hands clasped in desperation, Mary wept profusely as she made a passionate appeal directly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde. She warned that the lives of the innocent pupils are hanging in the balance. In the viral video obtained by Daily Post, Mary said: “Yesterday, some people came to our school and we have been kidnapped, both the teachers and the children. We are all here, we need help from the Federal Government and the State Government. Both the church, First Baptist Church, Yawota, and the community, we need your help so that these people will release us. Please help us!” The development follows reports of a coordinated raid on Friday, May 15, where motorcycle-riding terrorists invaded the Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School, Ahoro-Esinele; and L.A. Primary School, all within the Oriire local government area. Breaking down in tears repeatedly throughout the footage, the captive educator also reached out to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the general public, stating that the psychological toll on the abducted pupils is immense. ”We need help from our President, Tinubu, please help us. Our State Government, Engineer Seyi Makinde, please. And both the Nigerian Christians, please help us! The children are here, they are crying so that we will not waste our lives. We need your help. Help us o, don’t neglect us o!” she wailed. This distressing proof of life surfaces shortly after Governor Makinde inaugurated the Police’s Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU) in Ibadan and the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, paid a swift visit to the scene of the abduction in Oriire. Security agencies, alongside the South-West Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, are reportedly combing the vast forest corridors linking Oyo and Kwara states, as public anxiety grows over the safety of the captives.
