2027: It’s beyond my power to back out of Oyo guber race – Oriyomi Hamzat

​Popular broadcaster and Accord Party governorship hopeful, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, has declared that it is practically impossible for him to step down or withdraw from the 2027 gubernatorial race in Oyo State, revealing that the political struggle has gone completely beyond his personal control.

​Hamzat made this definitive declaration while addressing a mammoth crowd of passionate supporters, community leaders, and party faithful at a strategic stakeholders’ briefing.

​Addressing the persistent political undercurrents, rumors, and questions from critics regarding his unwavering ambition the media mogul explained that his movement is no longer a personal decision but a collective mandate driven by the masses.

​According to him, while typical politicians might easily compromise, back out for financial inducements, or settle for lucrative political appointments, his own trajectory cannot be altered because it is tied to a divine rescue mission for the people of Oyo State.

​He said, “It has gone completely beyond my power to say I am no longer contesting. If it were a struggle for money, one could easily sit back once the money is provided. If it were a struggle for ordinary political offices, one could compromise once an offer is made. But our struggle is about total liberation; it is about the redemption of the masses. What can they possibly offer me that matches the total liberation of our people?”

​The Accord aspirant emphasized that the overwhelming yearning of ordinary citizens for a complete turnaround in the governance of the state has locked him into the race. He noted that he is merely a vessel executing the strict directives of the people, and he has no right to betray their trust.

​”This mandate is not mine alone; it is your mandate. I am not going to say or do anything outside of your directives. And your collective voice has clearly demanded a beautiful dawn and an absolute turnaround in the governance of this state,” Hamzat stated to thunderous applause and chants of approval from the audience.

​Moving swiftly to consolidate his structure, the frontline broadcaster charged his coordinators and supporters across all local government areas to discountenance any rumors of compromise. He urged them to aggressively drive the ongoing Accord Party online registration exercise to build an impregnable foundation ahead of the party’s primary elections.
