In a significant political move ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election in Oyo State, the Accord Party governorship aspirant, Comrade Oriyomi Hamzat, paid a strategic visit to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Engineer Dotun Sanusi.

The visit, which took place at the expansive Ilaji Resort in Ona Ara Local Government Area, saw the prominent broadcaster and activist officially present his gubernatorial nomination and expression of interest forms to the business mogul and philanthropist. The meeting underscores the growing momentum and behind-the-scenes realignments among major stakeholders in the state’s political landscape as the race for the Agodi Government House gathers steam.

Following the warm reception, Comrade Hamzat took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account to share the moment with his followers. Sharing a picture of the meeting, he captioned the post: “FATHER X SON 💛💛💛. ILAJI and his beloved son are moving ACCORDingly.”

During the closed-door meeting, Hamzat briefed Chief Sanusi on his vision for Oyo State, emphasizing the need for an all-inclusive governance model that prioritizes youth empowerment, infrastructural sustainability, and economic revival. Presenting the forms, Hamzat lauded Chief Sanusi’s immense contributions to the socioeconomic development of the state through his massive investments in agriculture, tourism, and sports.

”We are here today to seek your blessings, counsel, and support as we embark on this journey to rescue and reposition Oyo State. Your track record of job creation and commitment to the grassroots aligns with our vision for a greater Oyo,” Hamzat stated.

In his response, Engineer Dotun Sanusi welcomed the aspirant and his entourage, emphasizing the need for peaceful, issue-based, and developmental campaigns. The Ilaji Resort boss noted that politics should be a vehicle for service and the advancement of the populace.

While offering his prayers and parental blessings, the business magnate urged all political actors in the state to ensure that the electoral process remains free of rancor and violence. He further charged the Accord Party aspirant to remain steadfast in his desire to serve the people.

The visit is widely seen by political analysts as a calculated move by the Accord Party to consolidate its grassroots appeal, particularly within the Ibadan metropolis and the Ona Ara axis where Engineer Sanusi holds significant influence. Hamzat’s declaration and subsequent acquisition of the nomination forms have injected a fresh wave of energy into the state’s opposition politics, setting the stage for an intense political contest in the 2027 general elections.
