AMVCA 2026: Lateef Adedimeji dominates nomination list with five nods; celebrates ‘Faith, Hard Work, and Grace’

Nollywood powerhouse and versatile role interpreter, Lateef Adedimeji, has once again proven his mettle in the African film industry, securing a staggering five nominations for the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

The announcement, which has sparked widespread celebration among fans and colleagues, sees Adedimeji competing against himself in a rare feat of double recognition within the same category.

Leading the pack is his critically acclaimed epic, Lisabi, which earned him a nomination for Best Lead Actor for the second consecutive year. The film also garnered nods for Best Indigenous Film and Best Makeup (handled by Hakeem Effect), further cementing Adedimeji’s transition from a stellar actor to a formidable producer.

In a rare occurrence that highlights his range, the actor also bagged two separate nominations in the Best Supporting Actor category for his standout performances in the movies Ginger and Red Circle.

Reacting to the news via his social media handles, an emotional Adedimeji attributed his success to divine providence and persistence.

“5 nominations at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards 2026… truly humbling. Even got nominated twice in the same category! WOW!” he wrote. “Which of Your favours will I deny, Ya Allah? This is faith, hard work, and grace. Alhamdulillah, always.”

The actor did not forget to acknowledge his wife and fellow actor, Mo Bimpe, noting, “Hey babe, we did it again!”

Adedimeji’s current triumph stands in stark contrast to his early days in the industry. The actor has frequently shared stories of his humble beginnings, recalling times when he worked for free and faced discouragement from industry veterans who predicted he would fail within a year.

Reflecting on his growth from a “backstage boy” to a leading light in Nollywood, Adedimeji’s five-fold nomination serves as a full-circle moment for a career built on the “spirit of not giving up.”

As the countdown to the AMVCA gala night begins, industry watchers are tipping the Lisabi star as a heavy favourite to walk away with multiple plaques, potentially making 2026 his most decorated year yet.
