Bishop Oyedepo, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya meeting at Yemi Davids’ 50th birthday sparks reactions

A viral video featuring the Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, and the Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, Jimmy Odukoya, has generated significant buzz online.

The exchange occurred on Friday during the 50th birthday celebration of Pastor Yemi Davids, the Lead Pastor of Global Impact Church, an event attended by several high-ranking Christian clerics in Nigeria.

In the footage, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya is seen kneeling in a traditional show of respect while engaging in an animated conversation with the senior Bishop. The younger cleric offered his shoulder for a pat, a gesture Bishop Oyedepo reciprocated with laughter and a firm pat, while Mama Faith Oyedepo also joined in the lighthearted interaction.

The meeting has drawn intense scrutiny from social media users due to the stark contrast in the grooming styles of both ministers. Bishop Oyedepo is widely known for his conservative stance on appearance, while Pastor Jimmy Odukoya maintains a signature look featuring dreadlocks and earrings.

Observers on platforms like Instagram and X pointed out the facial expressions of Bishop Oyedepo and Pastor Paul Enenche, who was also present, suggesting they were subtly examining Odukoya’s unconventional appearance.

One social media user, @tonystark19890, commented, “See as e dey do Paul Enenche like say ‘Somebody get me Razor Blade’ with the way e dey take eye ham stylishly.” Another, @nissigoldnfabrics, remarked on Odukoya’s confidence, saying, “The guy bold oh. As Papa no spark, Papa don calm down oh.”

Despite the humorous takes on their physical differences, the interaction has been praised by many as a demonstration of mutual respect across ministerial generations. Commentators noted that Odukoya’s decision to kneel despite his status and “modern” look reflected a deep-seated culture of honor for elders in the faith.

The 50th birthday event also featured a special session where Bishop Oyedepo made prophetic declarations for the celebrant, Pastor Yemi Davids, as he entered his golden jubilee.
