Popular Nollywood actress, Folorunsho Adeola, widely known as Arike Gold, has issued a strong call for financial independence among women, warning that relying solely on men for success is a precarious path.

The screen star reflected on her personal journey and the lessons that have shaped her career and outlook on life.

In a candid admission, Adeola revealed that her drive for success is fueled by her passion for financial security. She emphasized that while support from a partner is welcomed, it should find a woman already making significant efforts to better herself.

“I love money too much,” she confessed. “It took me some time to realize that sometimes it’s not a man that will make you; you have to push yourself. If you push yourself to a certain level, a man can then say, ‘I like this girl, she is very hardworking,’ and they might come in to support you.”

The actress also addressed the perceived disparity in how individuals achieve success in the entertainment industry. She acknowledged that while some people appear to find success through ease or significant assistance, many others must endure a much harder path characterized by resilience and deliberate effort.

According to Adeola, visible consistency and hard work act as a “magnet” for opportunities and external support. She stressed that self-belief remains a critical factor, especially for those who do not have equal access to established platforms.

Beyond her career in the movie industry, Adeola disclosed that her commitment to financial stability has led her to diversify into various business ventures. She noted that building multiple income streams is essential in the current economic climate and encouraged other women to prioritize their own entrepreneurial goals.

Her comments have since triggered a wider conversation on social media regarding entrepreneurship, gender roles, and the realities of building a sustainable career in Nigeria’s competitive entertainment space.
