Embattled Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has granted his first tell-all interview since his release from prison, maintaining his innocence and alleging a high-level conspiracy behind his conviction. The veteran actor claimed that his legal woes were the result of a personal fallout with comedian Damilola Adekoya, famously known as Princess. Baba Ijesha alleged that the friction began when he declined a “personal introduction” involving Princess. He claimed that this rejection triggered a retaliatory chain of events that culminated in the 2021 scandal and his subsequent imprisonment. According to the actor, the infamous CCTV footage that formed the core of the prosecution’s case was part of what he believed to be a “movie role” setup. He insisted he was invited to play a character preying on Princess’s foster daughter, unaware that the scene was being recorded as evidence for a criminal charge. In a shocking twist, the actor further alleged that while serving his sentence, some individuals who testified against him visited him in prison to seek his forgiveness. “Some of those who accused me came to beg me for forgiveness while I was in prison. They claimed they were promised N250,000 to testify against me during the trial,” Baba Ijesha stated during the emotional interview. He maintained that he is not the “predator” the public perceives him to be and that the accusations were motivated by personal vendettas rather than the facts of the case. Baba Ijesha, who regained his freedom in November 2025 after serving three years of a reduced sentence, also touched on his experiences within the correctional facility. He made mention of seeing crossdresser Bobrisky during his time in custody and used the platform to appeal to the Lagos State Government to increase the salaries of prison warders for their role in inmate reformation. The actor expressed profound gratitude to his colleague, Yomi Fabiyi, and his loyal fans who stood by him throughout the trial. Despite his release, Baba Ijesha’s name remains on the Lagos State Sexual Offenders Register following his 2022 conviction for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old minor. As of press time, neither Princess nor actress Iyabo Ojo—who was a vocal advocate for the victim during the trial—has responded to these new allegations.
