The incident occurred on the Nkpor–Nnobi Road in the Idemili North Local Government Area. Ngige was not present in the convoy at the time. A policeman in the lead vehicle was shot, and the assailants, dressed in police and army uniforms, took his gun and uniform. Tragically, a woman recording the incident was also fatally shot.
A shop owner who approached the scene was shot and is expected to undergo surgery but is currently in stable condition. Fortunately, no police officers were killed. The escort leader who was shot has had surgery and is expected to recover.
Ngige expressed condolences to the family of the deceased woman and assured that adequate medical care is being provided for the injured. The Anambra State Police have not yet released an official statement on the attack
