Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has launched a blistering verbal attack on veteran journalist and ADC chieftain, Dele Momodu, following the latter’s controversial comparison of President Bola Tinubu to former military dictator, General Sani Abacha.

Momodu, during a recent interview on Sunday, had lambasted the current administration, describing the President’s leadership style as “dictatorial.”

Reacting via a lengthy post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, Fani-Kayode expressed disappointment in Momodu’s remarks, suggesting that the media mogul sounds politically exhausted.

The APC chieftain advised Momodu to step away from the political limelight to undergo an “intellectual overhaul,” claiming his recent commentary lacks substance.

“I love Dele and God knows I have immense respect for him, but he sounded drained, tired, and broken and spoke little sense yesterday in his interview. May I humbly suggest to him to try and take a break from politics and political commentary for a while?” Fani-Kayode wrote.

Fani-Kayode argued that comparing a democratically elected president to a military ruler is not only “uncharitable” but also a direct insult to the Vice President, ministers, and senators who form the core of the current government.

He insisted that Momodu’s rhetoric undermines the experience of seasoned administrators currently serving the nation and “insults the collective intelligence of the Nigerian people.”

Turning his sights on the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Fani-Kayode mocked the party’s readiness for the 2027 general elections. He described the opposition party as an “inflatable plastic lifeboat” incapable of surviving the turbulent waters of Nigerian politics.

The war of words highlights the deepening polarization within the nation’s political elite as the 2027 election cycle begins to loom over public discourse.
