Barrister Damilola Ayinde Marshal, the daughter of Fuji legend King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM1), has officially declared her intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly come 2027.

Damilola, who currently serves as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Tourism to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is eyeing the seat for Surulere Constituency 2 under the platform of the All Progressives Council (APC).

Taking to her Instagram handle on Tuesday, the legal practitioner turned politician expressed her readiness to transition from the executive arm of government to the legislature.

She emphasized that her 12 years of legal practice have equipped her with the necessary tools to navigate governance and justice.

“I am a woman of excellence and results. I am ready to serve and lead. With my background, I am fully prepared and ready to fight for what truly matters. I promise to be the voice of the youths in the House,” she declared.

Using the slogan “Youth Lokan” (It is the turn of the youth), Damilola framed her ambition as a response to the yearning for younger representation in the state’s political landscape.

If successful, Damilola is set to replace the incumbent representative, Mosunmola Rotimi Sangodara, who currently represents the constituency.

Her declaration has already sparked significant buzz across social media, drawing endorsements from high-profile figures, including Afrobeats superstar Davido and veteran actress Dayo Amusa.

Her appointment to the Sanwo-Olu cabinet last year was famously celebrated by her father during a public event, where he thanked the Governor for the opportunity given to his daughter to serve the state.
