he Guinness World Records (GWR) has officially recognized “The Dapper Live Trench Symphony” for setting the record for the largest orchestra ever featured at an Afrobeats concert. The record-breaking feat was achieved during a live performance in Lagos in December 2025, which featured a massive ensemble of 85 musicians on stage. The event, organized by the Dapper Group under the leadership of CEO Damilola “Dapper” Akinwunmi, was a unique fusion of contemporary street-pop and classical music. It featured performances from top Nigerian artists including T.I Blaze, Rybeena, Bhadboi OML, and TML Vibez, alongside Fuji legends King Saheed Osupa and KS1 Malaika. In a statement following the official verification on Monday, the organizers expressed delight at the recognition, noting that the project was designed to showcase the musicality and depth of the Afrobeats genre on a global scale. “We set out to create something that had never been done before in the industry. Bringing 85 orchestral musicians together to perform Afrobeats was a challenge, but seeing it recognized by the Guinness World Records is a win for Nigerian music and culture,” the statement read. With this official certification, the Dapper Group has also announced plans to take the symphonic experience on a world tour across several cities in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Canada throughout 2026. This latest achievement follows a series of recent global milestones for the Nigerian music industry, further cementing the country’s position as a powerhouse in the global entertainment space.
