ABEOKUTA – In a significant move to bridge the gap between law enforcement and public health, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, Ph.D, has reiterated the Command’s commitment to the physical well-being of its officers.

The CP made this known while receiving a delegation from the Nigerian Cancer Society (NCS), Ogun State Chapter, at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran. The visit, led by the NCS State Secretary, Dr. Bolaji Lateef Salako, was designed to sensitize the police top brass on the growing importance of cancer awareness and preventive medicine.

Addressing the Commissioner and the Command’s Management Team, Dr. Salako emphasized that the nature of policing—often characterized by high stress and irregular schedules—requires a proactive approach to health

In his response, CP Lanre Ogunlowo expressed deep appreciation for the visit, noting that the “hand of fellowship” extended by the NCS is a vital contribution to the welfare of the men and women in uniform.

“Health consciousness is not a luxury; it is a necessity for effective policing,” the CP remarked. “This engagement will go a long way in ensuring our officers are not only physically fit for the field but are also aware of the silent threats to their long-term well-being.”

The CP further noted that the Command is open to deeper collaborations, suggesting that a health-conscious workforce leads to a more resilient and responsive police service for the people of Ogun State.
