LAGOS – The “Big Three” debate just got a massive dose of veteran fuel! Legendary Afrobeats icon 2Baba (Innocent Idibia) has sent social media into a tailspin after declaring that Burna Boy is currently operating on a different level than his peers, Wizkid and Davido.

Speaking in a candid sit-down on the Mic On podcast with Seun Okinbaloye, the “African Queen” crooner didn’t hold back when asked to weigh in on the hierarchy of Nigeria’s global music exports.

While 2Baba was careful to show love to all three heavyweights, he made it clear that from a “common sense” and global reach perspective, the “Odogwu” is currently wearing the crown.

“I have my favorite songs from all of them… But if I must be put on the spot, I think Burna is at the top of the game right now,” 2Baba stated.

He further clarified that his assessment isn’t about their bank accounts or personal styles—which he likened to different painters with unique strokes—but rather their current global impact.

“From what I can measure from common sense and understanding of the music world, I think right now Burna is at the top of this chain. Not just in Nigeria, in Africa, in the world.”

The “Ridiculous” Fela Comparison

The interview didn’t stop there. 2Baba also addressed the brewing controversy regarding fans—and reportedly Wizkid himself—comparing modern stars to the legendary Fela Kuti.

2Baba described the comparison between Fela and Wizkid as “ridiculous” and “disrespectful,” noting that it is unfair to both the pioneer’s legacy and the contemporary star’s individual journey.
