The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has inaugurated its Media Council as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s media and publicity machinery ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the state chairman of the party, Prof.abdulrahman akinoso; the Head of Media, Mr Jaiyeola; the PDP governorship candidate, Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi; party stakeholders and members of the media team.

Speaking at the event, Akinoso charged members of the newly inaugurated Media Council to be diligent, committed and professional in the discharge of their responsibilities, stressing that the party would rely on their contributions in the task ahead.

He assured the media personnel of the party’s support, urging them to remain focused and dedicated to strengthening the party’s communication structure ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The PDP chairman also cautioned members against the spread of fake news and unverified information, advising them to always seek clarification whenever necessary to ensure accuracy and credibility in their reports.

According to him, responsible media engagement and effective information management would be essential to the party’s communication efforts as political activities ahead of 2027 gather momentum.

Also speaking, the party’s governorship candidate, Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi, called for cooperation and unity among members of the Media Council.

Gbolarumi urged the media practitioners to work together and demonstrate collective commitment towards projecting the party’s activities, programmes and political engagements.

He emphasised the importance of collaboration among members, noting that a coordinated media team would be required to effectively communicate the party’s message to the people of Oyo State.
