The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly candidate for Egbeda State Constituency, Hon. Yemi Bernard Olurinde, ACTI, FCA, has congratulated the member representing Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Akin Alabi, on his promotion and installation as Aare Onibon Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Olurinde, in a statement made available to journalists, described Alabi’s elevation by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Senator) Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja (Arusa I), as a deserving recognition of his commitment to public service, community development and the preservation of Ibadan’s cherished traditional institution.

Akin Alabi was among the Ibadan High Chiefs promoted during the chieftaincy ceremony held on Friday, July 17, 2026, following vacancies created on the Olubadan line of succession by the demise of Oloye Raufu Delesolu, the Ikolaba Olubadan, and Oloye Adetunji Olanihun, the Asaju Olubadan.

The APC House of Assembly candidate noted that Alabi’s advancement to the prestigious Aare Onibon rung of the Olubadan succession ladder was not only a personal milestone but also a moment of pride for the people of Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency and the entire Ibadanland.

According to him, “I heartily congratulate our own Hon. Akin Alabi on his elevation to the esteemed position of Aare Onibon Olubadan of Ibadanland. This honour is a testament to your exemplary leadership, unwavering commitment to service and enduring contributions to the growth of our people.”

He prayed that the new office would usher in greater wisdom, peace and prosperity for the federal lawmaker, expressing confidence that his reign at the current stage of the traditional succession would be marked by impactful service and greater contributions to the development of Ibadanland.

Olurinde further assured the lawmaker of his unwavering support, saying Alabi’s rise within the revered traditional institution reflects the respect he has earned through years of dedicated service to his constituents and humanity.

He expressed optimism that the elevation would strengthen unity, promote peace and accelerate socio-economic development across Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency and the wider Ibadan kingdom.

“On behalf of my family, supporters and the good people of Egbeda State Constituency, I congratulate you on this well-deserved honour. We pray that Almighty God grants you good health, long life and the grace to continue serving Ibadanland with distinction,” the statement added.

He concluded with the traditional prayer, “Ibadan a gbe wa o,” while wishing the newly installed Aare Onibon Olubadan of Ibadanland continued success on the revered Olubadan succession ladder.
