The Chairman of the House Committee on the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Hon. Aderemi Oseni, has mobilized a massive coalition of artisans and traders across Oyo State, setting a high-stakes target of one million votes to secure President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the 2027 general elections. The rally, held in Ibadan under the auspices of the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF), served as a show of force for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. Speaking to the large gathering, the Ibarapa East/Ido federal lawmaker declared that the informal sector—comprising traders and artisans—is the backbone of the “Renewed Hope” agenda and a decisive force for the upcoming electoral cycle. ”We have intensified our efforts to ensure that our structures across all 33 local government areas deliver on our promise of one million votes for the President,” Oseni stated, emphasizing that grassroots engagement remains the core strategy of his political movement. To sustain this momentum, Oseni unveiled a robust empowerment package. Key commitments included a N250 million interest-free loan scheme, to be managed via a microfinance bank under the Remi Oseni Foundation, and the construction of an “Artisans’ Village” equipped with reliable electricity and essential amenities. These initiatives are designed to provide tangible economic relief and foster sustainable growth for small business owners in the region. The lawmaker also took the opportunity to address his evolving political ambitions. Following extensive consultations with party leaders, Oseni confirmed his transition from the gubernatorial race to a bid for the Oyo South Senatorial seat. He reassured supporters that the strategic shift was made in the best interest of the movement’s long-term goals and would not impact the electoral machinery currently being deployed for the President. Beyond the numbers, Oseni issued a stern warning against the “vices of democracy,” specifically cautioning against vote-buying and the selling of mandates. He urged the electorate to protect their future by utilizing their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) responsibly. In response to questions regarding internal party cohesion, the lawmaker expressed optimism about reconciliation efforts within the Oyo State APC. He described the ongoing friction among party stakeholders as a natural outcome of the party’s growing influence and appeal, suggesting that a unified front would soon be finalized to secure victory in the 2027 polls. With this mobilization, Hon. Oseni has effectively positioned his political structure as a central pillar of APC activities in Oyo, signaling an aggressive, early start to the state’s 2027 electoral campaign.
