Anthony Joshua will officially return to boxing on July 25 to face Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The announcement by Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh marks Joshua’s first fight since a fatal car accident in Nigeria last year, which claimed the lives of two associates. Though Joshua escaped with minor injuries, he took time away from the sport to recover and rebuild. The bout is part of a two-fight deal that is expected to lead to a massive showdown against Tyson Fury later this year. Joshua, who last fought in December when he knocked out Jake Paul, confirmed he is back in full training and ready to reclaim his spot at the top of the division. ”The landlord will collect his rent,” Joshua said, signaling his focus on returning to world title contention. A victory in July will clear the final path for the long-awaited “Battle of Britain” against Fury.
