OSOGBO – Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has been officially appointed as the Head of Youth Mobilisation for the re-election campaign of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The singer confirmed the appointment on Tuesday via his official X handle, expressing enthusiasm for his new strategic role within the campaign council ahead of the August 2026 governorship election.

“I have been appointed by the Governor of OSUN STATE @AAdeleke_01 and flag bearer of the ACCORD PARTY as HEAD YOUTH MOBILIZATION OF CAMPAIGN COUNCIL! We look forward to a smooth campaign and your RE-ELECTION Your Excellency! 4+4,” Davido posted.

Governor Adeleke, who recently emerged as the standard-bearer of the Accord Party following a high-profile exit from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), is positioning youth engagement as a central pillar of his bid for a second term. The move to the Accord Party followed months of internal leadership crises within the state and national PDP structures.

Political analysts view the appointment of Davido—who also serves as the Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund—as a tactical move to leverage the musician’s massive global influence and deep connection with the Nigerian youth.

As the campaign cycle intensifies, the Adeleke camp is expected to face stiff competition from the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and other regional contenders. With the election scheduled for August 8, 2026, the governor’s team is already mobilizing across the state’s 30 local government areas to consolidate the “4+4” agenda.
