Nollywood sensation Tobi Makinde has moved to quench the fire of ongoing rumors regarding a bitter fallout with his long-time mentor and industry powerhouse, Funke Akindele, insisting that the alleged feud is nothing more than a fiction created by social media.

The actor, who has been under intense scrutiny since Akindele’s absence from his December 2025 wedding, used a recent interview with the BBC to set the record straight. Makinde maintained that while the public is quick to project drama onto their interactions, the reality of their relationship remains grounded in mutual respect and a history that predates the digital spotlight.

Addressing the “cold war” narrative that has dominated headlines for months, Makinde was blunt in his assessment of the situation. He suggested that fans and bloggers often mistake professional evolution for personal animosity.

“I’m not aware of any fallout between madam Funke and I. Nothing really happened,” he declared, effectively dismissing claims that the wedding snub was a sign of a bridge burned.

Makinde, who gained massive popularity through his iconic roles in Akindele’s cinematic universe, emphasized that their bond does not require digital validation. In a move to separate his private life from his online persona, he noted that a relationship as deep as theirs is not built on “likes” or public appearances.

“Our relationship did not start on social media and no be for social media e go end,” he said in Pidgin English, reinforcing the idea that what the public sees—or fails to see—on Instagram and Twitter is not an accurate barometer of their current standing.

The actor also provided a philosophical take on why the pair might not be as visible together as they once were. He explained that as careers progress and individuals move from one level of success to another, the nature of their presence in each other’s lives inevitably shifts. He described this phenomenon as relationships appearing to be “lost in transit” due to growth and new life phases, rather than being the result of a specific grievance or “clash.”

As the dust settles on this latest clarification, Makinde’s comments serve as a firm rebuttal to the “clout-chasing” culture that often pits Nollywood stars against their mentors. For now, the actor seems focused on his own trajectory, while keeping the door firmly shut on the narrative of a Funke Akindele feud.
