IBADAN — A leading governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adewale Kolapo Kareem, has declared that Oyo State has officially lost its prestigious “Pacesetter” status, vowing to trigger a governance revolution through modern, data-driven leadership. Speaking as a guest on the popular program Oselu Gbode on Adanimogo 105.1 FM in Ibadan, the prominent professional lamented the state of infrastructural decay, noting that the current situation often discourages Nigerians in the diaspora from returning to their roots. Kareem, who manages a workforce of nearly 1,000 people and maintains a successful career abroad with an average income of 150 million, dismissed the notion that his political ambition is driven by financial necessity. Identifying corruption as the state’s primary obstacle, the APC chieftain positioned himself as a candidate motivated by the fear of God and a genuine desire for service. He emphasized that his entry into the race is fueled by a commitment to “Evidence-Based Governance,” asserting that the state cannot continue to rely on obsolete strategies to solve modern challenges. Central to his vision is a robust 20-point agenda designed to overhaul the state’s administrative and social frameworks. While commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, Kareem maintained that restoring Oyo State requires a localized, scientific approach to leadership that moves beyond political sentiment to deliver tangible results for the people. Reflecting on the historical resilience of the Nigerian people, Kareem connected the current surge in migration to the United Kingdom to the lack of domestic development. He noted that while his ancestors returned to Nigeria as a refuge during times of war, his mission today is to build a state where citizens no longer feel the need to flee. The aspirant concluded by promising a transparent government that will restore the pride of every Oyo State resident through innovative methods, insisting that the time has come to abandon the ineffective practices of the past.
