Controversial social media commentator, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has sparked a fresh row online after publicly questioning the cancer diagnosis of relationship expert, Blessing Okoro, alias Blessing CEO. Blessing CEO had on Wednesday sent shockwaves across social media when she announced that she is currently battling Stage 4 breast cancer. In an emotional post, the self-acclaimed relationship coach appealed to the public for financial assistance, claiming that her resources had been depleted by medical bills. She further revealed that she might undergo a mastectomy (breast amputation) as part of her treatment. While the announcement drew a wave of sympathy from fans and some celebrities, VeryDarkMan, in a video posted on his Instagram page on Thursday, expressed deep skepticism. He cautioned against using sensitive health issues like cancer for “clout chasing” or to “fraudulently” solicit funds from the public. He said, “I just hope what Blessing CEO is saying is the truth. Because I hope it is not a prank, clout chasing or something she wants to use to gather money because cancer is a very sensitive matter globally. “Cancer is not something that someone should joke with because it has claimed many lives. And till tomorrow, there’s still no cure for it.” The activist further challenged the influencer to provide concrete evidence to back her claims, accusing her of “emotional blackmail.” “I’m not convinced enough that Blessing CEO is saying the truth. Because you did not provide the report of the hospital that diagnosed you. You said a lot of resources has gone into your health. You did not put the receipt of the money you’ve been spending together for the public to see. You just came with emotional blackmail. Post the proof here,” he added. The development has triggered a heated debate on social media. While some netizens supported VeryDarkMan’s demand for transparency given the gravity of the claim, others slammed him for being “insensitive” and “heartless” toward someone claiming to be in a life-threatening condition. Blessing CEO is yet to respond to the demand for medical evidence as of the time of filing this report.
