Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday, distributed 100 brand-new vehicles to substantive directors within the state’s civil service.

The gesture, which took place at the Pavilion, Lagos House, Ikeja, is aimed at boosting the morale of top-tier civil servants and strengthening the state’s administrative machinery.

DAILY POST reports that the beneficiaries are all directors on Grade Level 17, who were selected as part of the government’s commitment to welfare and institutional capacity building.

Speaking during the brief handover ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the car presentation as a deliberate investment in the people driving the state’s policies.

He noted that the provision of the vehicles would ensure that those saddled with critical responsibilities are well-supported to deliver effectively.

“This presentation is a deliberate investment in the machinery of governance. It is part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and ensure that those saddled with critical responsibilities are well supported,” the Governor stated.

Sanwo-Olu further urged the directors to view the gift as a motivation for higher productivity, accountability, and loyalty to public service.

The Lagos State Head of Service, Olabode Agoro, lauded the Governor for the initiative, describing it as a massive morale booster. He noted that the gesture serves as proof that hard work and excellence are highly valued in the Lagos State Civil Service.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the recipients, Shakirat Adeosun, one of the directors, thanked the Governor for the “unexpected” empowerment. She noted that the vehicles would significantly enhance their efficiency and ease the discharge of their official duties across the mega-city.

The presentation comes amidst various reforms by the Sanwo-Olu administration to digitize and modernize the Lagos State workforce for better service delivery.
