The serene atmosphere at the University of Jos (UniJos) was shattered on Friday afternoon as a routine plumbing job turned into a scene of absolute horror.

Students at the Naraguta axis of the campus had been complaining for days about a persistent, “foul smell” and a stubbornly blocked sewage system. Little did they know that the source of the blockage was a heartbreaking case of a life cut short.

The Discovery According to eyewitnesses, maintenance workers were called in to investigate the dysfunctional toilet system after students could no longer bear the stench. The nightmare unfolded when plumbers broke through the drainage pipes to clear the obstruction.

Instead of the usual debris, they were met with the lifeless remains of a baby lodged deep within the plumbing.

Campus in Shock The news spread through the female hostel like wildfire, sparking widespread outrage and emotional breakdowns. A hostel porter, speaking on the condition of anonymity, suggested the baby may have been dumped following an illegal abortion.

“The plumbers were just trying to do their jobs when they found the body. Everyone is in disbelief. How could this happen here?” the porter lamented.

Calls for Justice While the university community remains in a state of panic, students are demanding answers. Many have taken to social media and campus forums to call for a “thorough investigation” to identify the mother and ensure justice is served.

As of Saturday morning, the University of Jos authorities have yet to release an official statement. Efforts to reach the institution’s Public Relations Officer were unsuccessful, as calls and messages remained unanswered.

The “Brown Roof City” of Jos remains tense as the community grapples with the morality and legality of this grim discovery.
