The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Command, has secured the conviction of 20 motorists for various traffic violations across the state’s corridors.

The offenders were brought to book during the Phase II of the FRSC Mobile Court sitting at the Itori Unit Command, presided over by Her Worship, Chief Magistrate O.T. Odunsaya.

According to a press statement released on Friday by the Corps Public Relations Officer, Odunsi Afolabi, the exercise was part of a strategic move to enforce sanity on the highways. He confirmed that all 20 motorists arraigned were convicted, with no discharges recorded.

“The proceedings saw 20 offenders arraigned and subsequently convicted. A total of 40 offences were documented, 39 of which attracted various fines, while none was sentenced to imprisonment,” Afolabi stated.

The enforcement operation targeted critical safety infractions, including the lack of speed limit devices, overloading, seatbelt negligence, and driving with expired licenses or worn-out tyres. Other violations included number plate irregularities and general poor vehicle maintenance.

Speaking on the development, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin, noted that the mobile court is a core component of the command’s sustained enforcement strategy.

Fasakin explained that the mobile court system enhances operational visibility and ensures strict compliance with traffic regulations, ultimately reducing road traffic crashes.

The Commander, however, commended the orderly conduct of the proceedings and urged motorists to prioritize safe driving practices and proper documentation to prevent avoidable fatalities on the road.
