ABUJA — The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has issued an urgent appeal to President Bola Tinubu, calling for the immediate deployment of all available resources and intelligence to rescue over 100 worshippers abducted in Kaduna State. The victims were seized during a church service in the Kurmin Wali community of Kajuru Local Government Area, an incident the Christian body describes as a “tragic reminder of Nigeria’s lingering insecurity.” In a statement released on Friday by its National Secretary, Bishop David Bakare, the PFN expressed deep distress over the attack. Bakare lamented that the incident occurred just as residents of Kaduna were beginning to breathe a sigh of relief, hoping that peace was gradually returning to the volatile state. “The recent tragic kidnapping of over 100 Christian worshippers… is one incident too many,” Bishop Bakare stated. “This unfortunate event has once again plunged families, churches, and the entire Christian body into grief, fear, and uncertainty.” The PFN noted that the renewed wave of violence has shattered the fragile sense of security in the region. The body strongly condemned the “heinous act,” emphasizing that innocent citizens should not be targets while seeking to worship God. Directing its appeal to the Presidency and security chiefs, the PFN demanded action rather than assurances. “We appeal to all relevant security agencies to urgently deploy every available resource and intelligence within their capacity to ensure the immediate, safe, and unconditional release of our abducted brethren,” the statement read. Bishop Bakare added that a swift rescue is the only way to dispel the confusion and fear currently gripping the populace. The Fellowship concluded with a prayer for the restoration of justice and security to Kaduna State and Nigeria at large.
