By The SchoolMother (Dr Bisi Esuruoso) The Federal Government has revealed that Nigeria will require about $345 million every year to reintegrate and properly equip its estimated 15 million out-of-school children with essential skills. The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, made this known recently during a meeting in Lagos. He explained that the figure represents the current per capita cost needed to effectively tackle the growing education crisis. Alausa further stated that out-of-school rates remain alarmingly high across the country, with nearly a quarter of children between the ages of 5 and 14 affected. He added that the situation is more critical in the North-East and North-West regions, where the number rises to over two-fifths, highlighting the urgent need for intervention and increased investment in the sector.
