LAGOS — In a revelation that has sent shockwaves through the Nollywood industry, actor Rotimi Salami has unveiled a controversial yet deeply emotional plan to immortalize late actress and filmmaker Allwell Ademola. Speaking on Biola Adebayo’s Talk to B podcast, Salami announced intentions to exhume the actress’s remains from Atan Cemetery and relocate them to a private site designed to serve as both a legacy foundation and a spiritual monument.

Salami, visibly emotional during the interview, disclosed that he has already consulted with industry heavyweights, including Saheed Balogun, regarding the move. The proposed site is envisioned not just as a resting place, but as a destination for pilgrimage.

“We want her to get a befitting monument where people can come to pray and make a wish,” Salami stated. “She was a special person, and I believe prayers made there will be answered.”

This statement has already sparked debate: Is this the ultimate honor for a beloved star, or does it cross the line into spiritualizing a colleague?

Beyond the monument, the project aims to institutionalize Ademola’s lifelong passion for mentorship. Salami outlined the “Allwell Ademola Legacy Foundation,” a multipurpose hub designed to be a factory for future stars.

Key pillars of the project include:

  • The Academy: Free annual professional training in acting, singing, directing, and scriptwriting, with a graduation ceremony slated for December 27th each year.
  • The Museum: An archive dedicated to Ademola’s creative life, displaying her designs, awards, and artifacts.
  • The unfinished Works: A commitment to completing and releasing the film productions the actress left pending at the time of her death.

Breaking down in tears, Salami described the late actress as a “generous soul” whose mission was raising others. “She would push you until you reached the top,” he recalled. The actor admitted that while the architectural and legal plans are still in the drafting phase, the foundation intends to launch a public appeal for support to realize this massive vision.

As the news spreads, the court of public opinion is divided. While many applaud the move to keep Ademola’s name alive through free education and art, the prospect of disturbing her rest at Atan Cemetery for a “wish-granting” shrine remains a polarizing topic.
