Nigerians have been asked to seize the opportunities that 2026 presents to achieve their goals and live purposeful lives.
The Lead Pastor of Victory Life Bible Church International, Apostle Lawrence Achudume, made the call in Abeokuta while speaking with journalists after the church’s crossover night service, emphasizing the importance of effective time management in unlocking Nigeria’s potential.
Achudume stressed that aligning daily objectives with project needs and business outcomes is crucial for successful time management.
“Opportunities won’t just come knocking; you’ve got to make them happen,” Achudume declared, warning against seeking advice from those who aren’t willing to take risks or aren’t successful themselves.
“Don’t take advice from those you are better than,” he cautioned, sharing practical tips on time management, including prioritizing tasks.
The cleric, who emphasized the power of God’s presence, citing biblical examples of Joseph and David, whose successes were rooted in faith, urged Nigerian youths to synchronize their lives, ensuring everything is in order before pursuing goals, and to be cautious of the dangers of artificial intelligence.
While AI has its benefits, he warned, “The AI stuff is full of deceitful instruments that can make individuals go astray,” praying that young people would use technology for good and avoid its negative aspects, embracing instead the rich African cultural values that promote authenticity and real relationships.
Drawing inspiration from the eagle’s relationship with its young, he said leaders should be willing to go out of their way for their people, just like Jonathan did for David.
“The eagle’s relationship with its young is a picture of what our relationship with our covenant people should be – we should be willing to die for them, go out of our way for them,” he said, adding that this is the kind of leadership Nigeria needs.
Speaking specifically to Nigerian leaders and clergy, Achudume emphasized the need for honesty and trustworthiness, urging those at the helms of affairs to use their positions to serve humanity.
According to him, clerics should preach what they practice and not put unnecessary burdens on their congregants.
“We should say what we mean and mean what we say,” he said, urging clergy to live upright lives and prioritize their people’s well-being.
As Nigeria looks to the future, Achudume prayed for the nation’s greatness, agricultural prosperity, and an end to corruption, declaring that the church’s theme for 2026, “On Eagles’ Wings”, symbolizes triumph over challenges and using obstacles as stepping stones to success.
Achudume also prophesied a year of divine breakthroughs, investment opportunities, and national progress, urging Nigerians to take charge of their lives and create their own path.
