Governor Abiodun has commended the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja, for his significant contributions to the development of Ibadanland, Oyo State, and Nigeria. During a visit to the Olubadan’s palace, Abiodun highlighted Ladoja’s wealth of experience in politics and governance, calling his life story inspiring.
“Ibadan is historically significant to the Yoruba nation, as many states trace their roots back to this city,” Abiodun noted. “That is why we hosted the South-West Governors’ Forum meeting here.”
Oba Ladoja emphasized that wealth is not a prerequisite for ascending the throne and reflected on his 32-year journey to become the 44th Olubadan. He pledged to unite the Yoruba people, stating that the role of traditional rulers now includes community development, urban renewal, and ensuring security.
“I have informed the Baales that they are responsible for security in their areas. They must keep me informed of any issues,” he said. Ladoja also reminisced about his journey beginning on October 1, 1993, when he became the Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, culminating in his ascension on September 26, 2025.
