The leadership crisis rocking the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has taken a criminal turn, days after the Federal High Court affirmed Chief Bola Asiru Balogun as the authentic Chairman of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Chapter (MMAC).

Justice A. Lewis-Allagoa had on October 8, 2026, in Suit No. FHC/L/CS/2251/2025, nullified the association’s NECOM election, holding that it was illegal to have two chairmen for one chapter and that the August 2023 election was conducted in disobedience to a subsisting judgment delivered by Justice P.O. Lifu on May 5, 2023.

Rather than obey the judgment, the faction whose chairmanship claim was voided by the court allegedly resorted to force.

According to eyewitnesses, Mr. Segun Oduntan, the deposed Vice President of the Association, and Mr. Temitope Akindele led a group of hoodlums, including Oduntan’s hitman identified as June 12, accompanied by members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC). The group stormed the MMAC secretariat, pulled down the iron door of the Chairman’s office and carted away official documents, files and other valuables in a bid to provoke the authentic leadership and instigate violence that could lead to breakdown of law and order and eventual closure of the office.

The action has been described by members as not just contempt of court, but outright burglary, criminal trespass and theft.

Stakeholders in the freight forwarding industry are now calling on the Inspector General of Police to urgently investigate the incident, recover the stolen documents and enforce the judgment of the Federal High Court.

They warned that allowing such actions to go unpunished would send a dangerous signal that court judgments can be ignored and replaced with brute force by hoodlums.

A petition, with Certified True Copies of the two court judgments attached, is said to have been sent to the Inspector General of Police and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police.
