The Demilade Akin-Alabi Foundation (DAA-da Foundation) will on Monday commence its ward-to-ward palliative relief programme in Ibadan, with elderly residents among the major beneficiaries of the humanitarian intervention.

The programme, themed “Charity Begins at Home,” is scheduled to hold at Igbejo Delesolu, Oje, Ibadan, from 1:00 p.m.

The initiative is aimed at providing food palliatives and relief support to elderly men and women, particularly those considered vulnerable and in need of immediate assistance within the community.

The foundation said the intervention was part of its broader commitment to reaching people at the grassroots and providing practical support to communities through direct humanitarian programmes.

According to the DAA-da Food Palliative Planning Committee, the ward-to-ward initiative reflects the vision of Hon. Dr Demilade Akin-Alabi to touch lives, empower people and contribute to the wellbeing of vulnerable members of society.

The committee explained that the programme was not intended to be a one-off intervention, noting that the foundation plans to extend the initiative to other communities and reach more people in need.

Speaking ahead of the programme, a member of the foundation’s leadership, Mr Ibrahim Fasansi, called on beneficiaries, stakeholders, volunteers and residents to ensure that the event is conducted peacefully and in an orderly manner.

The foundation also acknowledged the efforts of Hon. Dr Demilade Akin-Alabi, describing his commitment to humanitarian service as a demonstration of compassion and a desire to put smiles on the faces of members of the community.

The foundation said its grassroots intervention was driven by the belief that support for vulnerable people should begin within local communities, particularly at a time when many elderly citizens require assistance with basic needs.

With the commencement of the programme on Monday, the DAA-da Foundation said it hopes to strengthen its connection with communities while advancing its humanitarian message of empowering lives, building hope and touching communities.
