The internal political atmosphere within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan North East Constituency 2 has reached a boiling point as party faithful and grassroots mobilizers have launched a spirited campaign against the continued fieldng of Ogbeni Tunde Alonge as the party’s perennial candidate for the House of Assembly.

Operating under the slogan “Otoge Fun Alonge” (Enough is Enough for Alonge), the aggrieved stakeholders expressed their concerns on Monday, citing a long history of electoral losses and the systematic weakening of the party’s influence in the constituency. The group argued that the party’s insistence on “recycling” Alonge’s candidacy has consistently failed to yield the desired results, leaving the progressive fold vulnerable and sidelined in the local legislative map.

Speaking on behalf of the concerned constituents, several party leaders noted that while the APC remains a formidable platform built on the principles of growth and victory, those virtues have been stifled in Ibadan North East Constituency 2 by a lack of strategic renewal. They maintained that politics is ultimately a game of numbers and results, and that the repeated unsuccessful outings by the same individual have become a source of frustration for the party’s rank and file.

The agitators are now calling on the leadership of the APC to heed the yearnings of the people by shopping for a fresh face capable of uniting the various interests within the constituency. They stressed the urgent need for a vibrant grassroots mobilizer—one who possesses modern political ideas and the requisite energy to connect with both the youth and the elderly.

According to the group, the constituency deserves a representative who can translate the progressive ideals of the party into electoral success and purposeful representation. They warned that continuing with “old political experiments” would be a disservice to the party’s potential, insisting that the 2027 general elections must serve as a turning point where a new generation of leadership is allowed to take the mantle and restore the APC’s winning streak in the area.
