Former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Monday donated copies of his book, HEADLINES AND SOUNDBITES: MEDIA MOMENTS THAT DEFINED AN ADMINISTRATION, to Pan-Atlantic University in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos. The donation, which was received by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Enase Okonedo, was made on the sidelines of the former Minister’s visit to the institution. Alhaji Lai Mohammed had led other members of the Eko Tourism Foundation, the Governing Council of which he chairs, to the Yemisi Shyllon Museum of Art situated within the university. The 601-page book chronicles major media engagements, policy communications and defining public information moments during the administration in which Lai Mohammed served as Minister of Information and Culture. Rich in anecdotes and historical reflections, the book provides readers with an insider’s account of the challenges of governance, strategic communication and nation-branding in a rapidly evolving media environment. Speaking on the motivation behind the book, the former Minister said he wrote it to document an important chapter in Nigeria’s contemporary history and to provide students, researchers and communication professionals with first-hand material on government communication, crisis management and media relations. He also said the book was intended to contribute to scholarship and deepen public understanding of the complexities of public service and policy communication. After launching the book in December 2025, the former Minister announced plans to donate copies to a number of tertiary institutions across the country as part of efforts to foster a reading culture and encourage scholarship. He has previously donated copies of the book to Yaba College of Technology in Lagos; Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta; University of Abuja; Al-Hikmah University and University of Ilorin, both in Kwara State.
