In a major show of political strength, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has confidently declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is primed to reclaim the presidency and steer Nigeria in a new direction come 2027.

Governor Makinde made the assertion in Abuja while addressing party stakeholders and members at the 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of his faction of the party.

Despite recent leadership tussles within the opposition ranks, the gathering served as a strategic display of resilience and structural mobilization. During the meeting, the faction ratified the appointment of a 13-member caretaker committee—chaired by Kabiru Turaki (SAN), with Taofeek Arapaja serving as National Secretary—to oversee the party’s affairs and begin early preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Rallying the party faithful, Makinde urged unity and an unwavering focus on the ultimate goal. Laying out a comprehensive roadmap for the entire electoral cycle, the governor emphasized that the party’s reach would sweep across all levels of government.

“We should write it down. This gathering will produce House of Assembly members, will produce House of Representatives members, will produce Senators, will produce Governors, and will produce the next President,” Makinde stated.

Political analysts note that the declaration signals an aggressive push by the party to consolidate its base and set an early timetable for candidate nominations, positioning the PDP as a formidable challenger to the ruling establishment in the upcoming electoral cycle.
