Engr. Aderemi Oseni, the member representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), has officially declared his intention to contest the Oyo South Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, promising to “bring hope” and unparalleled development to the district.

Addressing a massive crowd of All Progressives Congress (APC) faithful, party leaders, and supporters in Ibadan, Oseni characterized his entry into the senatorial race as a mission to restore confidence in governance. He maintained that his brand of politics transcends personal gain, focusing instead on sacrifice and the direct empowerment of the people he serves.

The declaration comes at a pivotal moment as the incumbent Senator for Oyo South, Sharafadeen Alli, sets his sights on the governorship of Oyo State. In a powerful show of party solidarity, Senator Alli was present at the declaration, where Oseni took the opportunity to express deep appreciation for his leaders within the party, including the former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and Ambassador Florence Ajimobi, whom he described as pillars of strength and guidance.

Oseni, a seasoned structural engineer and Chairman of Step Development Limited, noted that his tenure in the Green Chamber has been defined by tangible, life-changing infrastructure. He pointed to his track record of road construction, bridge building, and school renovations across Ido and Ibarapa as a testament to what he can achieve on a larger scale for the nine local governments of Oyo South.

“I am here to tell you that I have served, and I want to serve again with even greater responsibility,” Oseni told the cheering crowd. “I come with humility to answer a call from God. For me, politics is for service, not for self-enrichment. I represent you to bring hope and the development you deserve. We have made 40 youths millionaires in my current constituency to grow the local economy, and we are ready to replicate this miracle across the entire senatorial district.”

The lawmaker, who described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as his mentor and source of strength, urged the APC to remain united ahead of the 2027 polls. He warned against internal divisions, stating that a unified party is the only vehicle capable of reclaiming total leadership in the Pacesetter State and ensuring the President’s second-term success.

Beyond infrastructure, Oseni highlighted his commitment to the vulnerable, citing his ongoing financial assistance to market women, artisans, and youth. He assured the people of Oyo South that his move to the Red Chamber is about “responsibility” and a “new course” of governance that prioritizes the welfare of the masses over political ego.

The event concluded with a spiritual charge, as Oseni prayed for the scattering of “ungodly gatherings” against the progress of the state. With his formal entry into the race and the endorsement of party heavyweights, Oseni has signaled a formidable challenge for the Oyo South ticket, built on a promise of bringing the “Ido/Ibarapa miracle” to the heart of the district.
