Samson Opeyemi Fatola, the prominent House of Representatives aspirant for the Ibadan Southwest/Northwest federal constituency, has launched a scathing attack on Governor Seyi Makinde, accusing him of abandoning political wisdom to join a coalition of “confused elements.” Fatola claimed that the Governor’s recent alignment with an opposition alliance in Ibadan is a sign of a leader who has lost his way.

In a blistering statement that has sent ripples through the political circles of Oyo State, Fatola described the Governor’s new associates as “parading themselves as rescuers of Nigeria’s nascent democracy” while actually being a “chaotic” distraction. He argued that Makinde, a major stakeholder in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is making a grave error by seeking political refuge in what he termed an “Ibadan circus” rather than fixing the internal crises within his own party.

“It is truly a pity that he has tethered his future to that chaotic opposition alliance,” Fatola remarked, asserting that the Governor is “effectively signing his own political death warrant.” He characterized the move as a desperate attempt to stay afloat in a “sea of confused opposition,” which he believes will only lead to the Governor’s “steady slide into oblivion.”

The critique took an even more personal turn when Fatola suggested that Makinde’s recent decisions feel less like strategic choices and more like a “spiritual affliction” that has clouded his judgment. He lamented that the Governor, once known for his political clarity, now appears to be “sinking into the background” under a “heavy spiritual cloud.”

Fatola concluded his blast by demanding that the Governor “lower his ego” and refocus his attention on the “lingering issues within the leadership structure of the PDP.” He maintained that unless Makinde resolves the fractures within the ranks and files of his own party, his participation in external “shenanigans” will only accelerate his descent into political irrelevance.
