NOLLYWOOD actress and producer, Laide Bakare, has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian entertainment industry by announcing her intention to wed for the third time.

In a surprising twist, however, the veteran screen star described the upcoming nuptials as her “first official” marriage, despite having been publicly married twice before.

Speaking in a recent interview with content creator Akin Abolade, Bakare revealed that preparations for the ceremony are already in high gear.

“I will soon be getting married officially for the first time ever,” she stated, a comment that has since ignited intense debate among fans and social media observers regarding the status of her previous relationships.

Bakare’s marital history has been a subject of public interest for over a decade. Her first marriage was to Olumide Okufulure, a businessman based in the United States, with whom she has a daughter, Simi. Following the collapse of that union, she married Alhaji Mutairu Atanda Orilowo in 2012.

The marriage to Orilowo, which produced two sons, faced significant challenges in 2014 when he was reportedly declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of fraudulent activities. Bakare subsequently moved on from the union.

Despite the setbacks, the actress remains unapologetically optimistic about love. In an earlier appearance on the Real Life With Aunty Ayo podcast, she maintained that she would not be deterred by failed attempts at domestic bliss, stating she is open to marrying as many as five times if necessary to find the right partner.

While Bakare confirmed that wedding plans are underway, she remained tight-lipped about the identity of her husband-to-be and the specific date for the ceremony.
