Gistlife readers, it seems the “Gongo Aso” crooner is not holding back his tongue! Veteran singer 9ice, born Alexander Adegbola Akande, has sparked a massive firestorm on social media after a video surfaced of him dragging organized religion to the pits.

The singer, who has been very vocal about his “heathen” lifestyle lately, didn’t mince words when he claimed that the continuous prayers of Nigerians have done absolutely nothing to fix the country’s decaying economy or security.

While speaking at a recent event, the singer lamented how Nigerians spend their entire lives in church or mosques while the country continues to sink. He pointed out that countries like the UK, where people don’t prioritize religion, are far more prosperous.

In his words:

“You will leave Nigeria and go to Mecca to go and lick rock… Ever since you have been calling on Allah and Jesus, this country hasn’t gotten any better. If you go to London, nobody goes to church there yet they are better than Nigeria.”

Recall that back in 2025, 9ice shocked the world when he revealed he dumped his former faith after a “spiritual attack” that left him vomiting blood for six months. He claimed it was an Ifa priest who finally saved his life, and since then, he has vowed to stay away from foreign religions.

9ice even slammed those who hold “weekly services” and pray over things they should be fixing with their own hands.
