Nollywood veteran and ageless screen goddess, Kate Henshaw, has sent a strong warning to habitual gatecrashers and those who turn “invite-only” cards into family reunions, urging them to value their dignity and stay away from places where they are not welcome.

The iconic actress, known for her bluntness and no-nonsense attitude, took to her Instagram page on Wednesday to vent her frustration over a social trend she described as “rampant” and “unbelievably rude” within the Nigerian social circle.

In a viral video that has since set social media on fire, Henshaw questioned the motives of individuals who show up at high-profile parties and private gatherings without a formal invitation, asking what they truly aim to achieve by being “uninvited guests.”

The movie star was particularly incensed by guests who receive a single-entry invitation but decide to show up with an unannounced entourage.

“I want to talk about something that has been rampant and is still rampant,” Henshaw stated. “I just want to ask those of you who show up uninvited at events and parties: what’s your purpose? What do you aim to achieve?”

She didn’t stop there, hitting out at the “village people” mentality: “Then, those of you who receive a card that admits only one person and you invite all your village people without checking with the host; you pack people and come. What are you doing there? Why don’t you respect yourself and stay away? It’s rude; you’re a gatecrasher.”

Henshaw’s message was centered on the concept of self-worth, admonishing the public to “respect yourself enough to stay away from places you aren’t invited.” She noted that the act of gatecrashing is not just an inconvenience to the host but a stain on the character of the guest.

This latest outburst is consistent with Henshaw’s history of bold, social commentary. Recently, she made headlines for slamming the mindset of young women who prefer dating “Yahoo boys,” warning that such paths often lead to tragic ends.

The video has sparked a massive debate online. While many event planners and hosts have hailed her for “speaking their truth,” others have shared their own nightmare stories of “plus-ones” who ended up outnumbering the actual invited guests.

As the “Owanbe” season continues in full swing, Kate Henshaw’s message serves as a timely Public Service Announcement: If your name isn’t on the list, or if your card says “Admit One,” leave the “village people” at home and respect the host’s boundaries.
