IBADAN – The political landscape of Ogbomoso North was thrown into a stir on Thursday as a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former House of Representatives candidate, Hon. Olufemi Onireti, officially resigned his membership of the ruling party in Oyo State.

Onireti’s exit was contained in a formal letter addressed to the Chairman of PDP Osupa Ward 9, Ogbomoso North Local Government. In the correspondence, the influential politician described his departure as a difficult but necessary move necessitated by a period of “deep personal reflection.”

Confirming the development, Onireti stated that his resignation takes effect immediately. While reflecting on his tenure within the party, he acknowledged that the PDP provided him with a significant platform for political participation, service, and growth, most notably during his run for the Green Chamber in the last general elections.

”I hereby formally resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately,” the letter read. Despite the sudden move, Onireti maintained a tone of gratitude toward the party hierarchy, expressing his appreciation to the leaders and members for the support and relationships he built during his years of active involvement.

”I remain grateful for the opportunity to serve and for the relationships and experiences I gained during my time in the party. I wish the party well in its future endeavours,” he added.

The resignation of the Ogbomoso-born politician is expected to trigger a significant shift in the local political dynamics of the Ogbomoso North federal constituency. As of the time of filing this report, Onireti has remained silent on his next political destination, leaving observers and supporters in high anticipation of his future moves ahead of the next electoral cycle.
