Popular Nigerian media personality, Toke Makinwa, has sparked a firestorm on social media after delivering a stinging rebuttal to a follower who criticized her parenting style and online privacy choices.

The drama unfolded on Sunday when a Snapchat user accused the entrepreneur of practicing “performative privacy” by frequently sharing photos of her daughter’s limbs and back while hiding her face.

The critic, in a lengthy message, questioned why Makinwa consistently posts “bits and bobs” of the child—such as legs, arms, and back views—arguing that the act was a form of attention-seeking disguised as a desire for privacy.

“If you wanna be private, be private all the way and keep her entirely out of the media,” the user wrote. “Showing bits and bobs of her presents as attention-seeking, wrapped in a ‘keeping it private’ delusion.”

The user further claimed that while the child belongs to the media mogul, the pattern of posting “made no sense” to the public.

Makinwa, known for her no-nonsense approach to online trolls, did not take the criticism lightly. Taking to her Snapchat story, she dismissed the critic’s “epistle,” describing the fascination with her child’s identity as “bizarre.”

“Exactly, not your circus, boo! Do whatever works for you, and it’s my page and not yours,” Makinwa retorted.

She further advised the netizen to seek professional help, stating: “This long epistle over a child’s identity that is not yours is so bizarre. Get help.”

The exchange has since gone viral, with fans divided over the issue. While some argue that celebrities have the right to curate their children’s online presence as they see fit, others believe the “partial reveal” style of posting only invites unnecessary curiosity.

Makinwa has remained firm, insisting that her social media handles remain her personal space to manage as she pleases.
