Vice President Kashim Shettima has condemned the recent activities of Boko Haram insurgents, declaring that no religion supports the killing of innocent people.

Shettima stated this during a visit to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) in Borno State, where he met with victims of the recent attacks.

The Vice President, who was in the state for an on-the-spot assessment, lamented the persistent disregard for human life shown by the terror group.

According to him, the actions of the insurgents are a direct contradiction of religious tenets and a grave injustice to humanity.

“No religion supports the killing of innocent people. However, the actions of Boko Haram continue to show complete disregard for human life,” the VP stated while sympathizing with the survivors.

Shettima further assured the victims and the people of Borno State of the Federal Government’s unwavering support in the fight against terrorism.

He emphasized that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration remains committed to ending the cycle of violence and ensuring that peace is restored to the Northeast and the country at large.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, while receiving the Vice President, briefed him on the condition of the injured and the medical efforts being made to ensure their full recovery.

Recall that the region has witnessed a fresh wave of attacks, leading to the loss of lives and properties, a development that has triggered national concern.
