The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has activated a high-level security web across the state, deploying 1,705 personnel to ensure a “hitch-free” Eid-el-Fitr celebration. As Muslims across Oyo State prepare to mark the end of the Ramadan fast, State Commandant Augustine Padonu has ordered a massive mobilization of officers to strategic “flashpoints” and public hubs. The goal? To guarantee that the 2026 festivities are celebrated in a secure and peaceful atmosphere. The deployment isn’t just for prayer grounds; the NSCDC is casting a wide net to cover all areas where large crowds are expected: Spirituality & Leisure: Eid prayer grounds, recreation centers, and parks. Commerce & Travel: Busy markets, motor parks, and major highways. Public Safety: Critical national infrastructure and government assets. Commandant Padonu revealed that specialized units, including Surveillance Teams, Intelligence Officers, and the Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), have been placed on red alert to squash any potential security threats before they escalate. While congratulating the Muslim faithful on their successful 30-day fast, the Commandant didn’t mince words for those planning to disrupt the peace. “Operational units have been placed on high alert… The Command will deal decisively with anyone found wanting,” Padonu warned, urging criminal elements to stay far away from Oyo State during the holidays.
