Outspoken Afrobeat maestro, Seun Kuti, has once again stirred the hornet’s nest, calling on the Federal Government to criminalize the act of performing “unverifiable” miracles in Nigeria. In a viral live video that has sent shockwaves across social media, the son of the legendary Fela Anikulapo-Kuti proposed a radical new law: any cleric who claims to perform a miracle must be able to repeat the feat at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) or face a lengthy prison sentence. The “LUTH” Litmus Test Kuti, known for his fierce criticism of organized religion, argued that spiritual claims should be backed by scientific evidence. According to him, the era of “staged” miracles must end. “A law should be made to ensure that no one is allowed to perform miracles, and anyone caught claiming to perform a miracle should be sent to jail. The only exception would be if the miracle can be proven at LUTH,” Kuti declared. “Grow New Eyeballs” Going further, the musician challenged pastors to perform extreme feats under the watch of medical doctors. He specified that he isn’t interested in “vague” healings but in undeniable biological transformations. “I’m talking about someone with no eyeballs at all. If the miracle is real, the person should gain full vision. If you cannot perform the miracle, you should be held accountable,” he added. 50 Years Behind Bars Seun Kuti didn’t stop at just arrests. He suggested a staggering 50-year jail term for any “Man of God” who fails the LUTH test. He insisted that since religious followers claim their “God can do all things,” then proving it in a hospital setting should not be an issue for a true performer of miracles. While some “Netizens” agree that the “business of miracles” needs regulation to prevent the exploitation of the vulnerable, others have slammed the musician for “attacking the church” and interfering with people’s faith. As of the time of this report, no major religious body has officially responded to the Afrobeat star’s provocative challenge.
