In a high-stakes interview on Arise News this Thursday, PDP chieftain Chief Bode George sent a clear message to those shaking the foundations of the Peoples Democratic Party: the era of consequences has arrived.

As the party grapples with the fallout of the Ibadan Appeal Court advice to seek peace, George made it clear that “straight” members have nothing to fear—but those playing “awkward” games are in for a rough ride.

“There will be [punishment]. You are either straight or you are awkward,” George declared. “If you have the fear of the Almighty God ahead of you, you fear nothing. But if you think life is only the good times, you are mistaken.”

The PDP is currently a house divided, with the Kabiru Turaki-led faction weighing a difficult path forward. The leadership is under immense pressure to reconcile with the faction backed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to avoid a total collapse before the next election cycle.

Reflecting on the party’s current struggles, Bode George used powerful, symbolic language to describe the internal war. He described the current crisis as a “spiritual desert” where members’ faith and loyalty are being tested by tribulations.

“If you are able to sustain yourself there, you will come out stronger. Look at me. I have seen the highest,” he remarked, hinting at his own long and turbulent history within the Nigerian political landscape.
