The Federal Capital Territory is currently buzzing that has many Nigerians asking: “Is Nyesom Wike now a god in Abuja?”

What was meant to be a formal event in Gwagwalada turned into a massive talking point after the sitting Local Government Chairman was abruptly interrupted and escorted off the stage just because the “Landlord of Abuja” arrived.

The Gwagwalada Chairman was seen addressing the crowd, unaware that his time on the mic was about to be cut short. The moment Wike’s presence was announced, the program was instantly hijacked.

The Chairman didn’t even get to finish his sentence before security operatives moved in. In a scene that many have described as “embarrassing,” the local leader was booed by a section of the crowd and physically led away by the police to clear the path for the Minister.

Nigerians debating the heavy-handed nature of the interruption. While Wike’s supporters claim it’s standard “big man” protocol, critics are calling it a “god complex” that undermines local authorities.

The image of a sitting Chairman being “bundled” off his own stage has left a sour taste in the mouths of many residents, while others are simply in awe of Wike’s absolute control over the FCT.

Since taking office, Wike has maintained a high-octane, “no-nonsense” style, but this latest incident in Gwagwalada has taken the conversation to a new level. Whether it’s respect or fear, one thing is clear: in Abuja today, when Wike walks in, everyone else walks out.
