Nollywood legend Ganiu Nafiu, popularly known as Alapini Osa, has voiced strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asserting that the President’s mission in Aso Rock is driven by patriotism rather than a search for wealth.

In a recent interview with fellow actor Kunle Afod, the veteran thespian—known for his powerful roles in Yoruba cinema—defended the President against ongoing criticism regarding the country’s economic situation.

Addressing the perception of the presidency, Alapini emphasized that President Tinubu was already a man of immense affluence long before his election in 2023. According to the actor, the President’s focus is on structural reform and long-term national growth.

“I can say that his plan is to make Nigeria better. Tinubu didn’t become president because of money or affluence because he has them. He’s a cheerful giver. We appointed him for a reason, and he’s already doing it and will do more,” Alapini stated.

In a surprising turn that has sparked significant debate, the veteran actor suggested that the scale of Nigeria’s challenges might require more than the constitutional eight-year limit to fully resolve. He noted that while a third term is not legally possible, the depth of the “damage” done to the country over decades is immense.

“He may not complete the task entirely because no one can repair a country that has been damaged for many years within just eight years,” he remarked, adding that if the law allowed, he would support an extension to see the reforms through.

Alapini did not hold back against those he believes are undermining the administration from within. He described obstructive figures as “tigers and cobras in the forest,” claiming they are responsible for many of the hardships citizens are currently facing.

He concluded with a stern message to the public: “He who has ears, let him hear. And if you like, don’t hear… Tinubu will fix this country.”

The interview marks a notable shift for the actor, who in mid-2025 had expressed “bitter disillusionment” and regret over his participation in the 2023 campaign. His latest remarks signal a complete return to the “Renewed Hope” fold, as he praised improvements in sectors like electricity and urged Nigerians to remain patient.
