The dark cloud hanging over Nigerian international Amas Obasogie has finally vanished. The 26-year-old Super Eagles shot-stopper has been officially exonerated by his Tanzanian club, Singida Black Stars SC, following a tense internal investigation into allegations of match-fixing.

Obasogie, a former Bendel Insurance fan favorite, had been slapped with a crushing three-month suspension that sent shockwaves through the Nigerian football community. The suspension came after “suspicious” performances in a CAF Confederation Cup clash against Flambeau du Centre and key league matches against Pamba Jiji FC and Namungo FC.

After weeks of digging into his records and conduct, the clubโ€™s management dropped a bombshell statement on Saturday, March 7, 2026, admitting they found zero evidence of foul play.

The club’s official verdict? The errors weren’t criminalโ€”they were just human.

โ€œThe incidents that raised concerns have been determined to be technical errors within the game,โ€ the club stated, effectively chalking up the suspicious goals to “bad days at the office” rather than a betrayal of the sport.

With his name now cleared, the Nigerian giant is free to rejoin Othmen Najjarโ€™s squad immediately. For Obasogie, who moved to Tanzania last year from Ethiopian side Fasil Kenema, this news is a massive relief as he looks to reclaim his spot as one of Africaโ€™s most reliable hands.

Super Eagles fans were biting their nails over this probe, as any match-fixing conviction would have likely ended Obasogie’s international career. Now that itโ€™s been proven to be a “technical error,” the keeper can focus on keeping clean sheets instead of clearing his name
